The story of the bird...

Ann P. Smith created the sculpture on the cover of the book, incorporating many electronic components used for scientific data acquisition. We are fortunate to have this image, which projects our belief that the intersection of technology and biology does not have to be intimidating. The body is an Arduino microcontroller board, and other parts include thermistors and a 555 digital timer. The pieces came from some special items we sent to her and from a wonderful box of parts she has collected through the years.
